Behind The Lens
I'm a wife, mommy, adventure and light seeker. I love the stillness of the bush, a good cup of coffee and I am living out my dream getting to tell stories through photographs.
I really do believe that my camera is an extension of me and of my heart, and I honestly believe that I was made to do this.
My love for people and connection and being able to capture this in a raw, honest and creative way is what makes my heart skip a beat.
I feel a great sense of purpose, pride, privilege and immense joy when I get to photograph the connection between loved ones. After being in the industry for 10 years I can honestly say I am even more passionate about it now than ever before.
My Photography Philosophy
My philosophy is simple - every photo needs to tell a story. I love to achieve this in a creative, non obtrusive, honest and raw way. When you look back at your photographs years from now l want you to remember what that season in your life felt like.
I want to capture the real connection and bond between a family. My main focus is to capture raw honest moments - ones that will become visual legacies for your family to look back on 10 - 20 -30 years from now.
The Experience
I will keep our time together relaxed, calm and comfortable.
Through gentle guidence I will help you through the shoot. With subtle suggestions I will leave room for natural moments to occur.
Our time together won't feel stiff or awkward. We will laugh and chat in between shots.
My aim is no make your shoot enjoyable, relaxing and calm. I don't want you to leave the shoot feeling exhausted. I also have a way with babies and kiddies so that helps :)
Maternity and family photography isn’t just a way of guarding our own memories. It’s a gift to our children in the future. A chance to glimpse into a world they were part of before their memories began. To see us as we are now, to know us as the people we were before." Nina Goks

Birth
When asked what was the best day of your life the answer is your wedding day and the days your children are born. Why would you have a photographer present for the one and not the other.
Take this as a sign to book a birth photographer.
I'm a proud member of the South African Birth Photographers Association.
After going through labour twice, considering becoming a doula and being passionate about birth I am truly invested in capturing such a sacred time and season in your life. What a privelage and honour it is to capture a baby's first breath.
Through trust and respect, I am here to capture your birth in a raw and personal way.

FAQ

WHERE ARE YOU BASED?
In Morningside Manor, Sandton, Johannesburg but I travel throughout Gauteng.
DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE
Short answer: Storytelling. Emotive. Vibrant
Long Answer: My aim is to capture photos that tell a story, that are filled with raw emotion. I love to do this with a unique creative eye. I capture all the small moments that in years to come don’t seem so small at all. I also love striking portraits, especially of Motherhood so I definitely love to include these in galleries as well.
I’M NERVOUS TO HAVE MY PHOTOS TAKEN/I’M NOT PHOTOGENIC:
It is totally normal to feel this way. There is no need to stress about your shoot. I will guide you and your family throughout your shoot so you don’t have to worry about not knowing what to do. All I need from you is be present and enjoy your loved ones. You can leave the rest up to me. I am always aware of lighting and angles because these two things will help bring out your best features.
WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO SCHEDULE A MATERNITY SHOOT?
Anytime between 29 and 33 weeks. That way the bump is nice and full but you still feel comfortable and not too tired.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO RECEIVE OUR PHOTOS AND HOW DO WE MAKE A BOOKING?
You will receive some sneak peeks within 5 day of the shoot. Your full gallery will be ready within 4 weeks. If you added on a video you can add another week onto it.
To make a booking you get in touch with me using my enquiry form on my website. I will then send you my rates.
Once you have decided what you would like to book I will send you a contract and invoice and we can chat availability. To secure the booking I require a signed contract and 25% booking fee. The remaining 75% is due one week prior to the shoot date.
WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO BOOK A NEWBORN SHOOT?
Anytime within baba’s first 4 weeks. This shoot is done in the comfort of your home so you don’t have to worry about taking baby out the house.
DO YOU USE PROPS FOR NEWBORN SHOOTS?
Nope, this newborn photography style does not fit into my documentary storytelling approach. If you have a cute little outfit for baba or some sentimental pieces you would like to include that is awesome and we can definitely incorporate these. We will definitely get photographs of baby by themselves they will just not be intricately posed with studio lighting :) but in more of a natural setting. The shoot will be focused on capturing all the newborn cuddles and everything that goes with this stage of parenthood - all the raw moments included.
WHAT TIME IS THE BEST TIME TO SCHEDULE A FAMILY SHOOT?
The best time is around sunset (you just can't beat that golden hour.). I know it is quite scary to schedule anything around sunset with babies or toddlers - it is for one day and your photos will last a lifetime - your toddler will think its the coolest thing to stay up a bit later with mom and dad. For shoots at home they can be done anytime of the day when you have the most natural light in the house.
WHERE DO THE FAMILY SESSIONS TAKE PLACE?
They will take place at one location of your choice. I do love shooting at home (nothing like being in your own environment to get lovely natural candid photos) or at a location you love, example a park. For kiddies aged between 2 and 5 I would advise that when choosing a location to not choose one with too many distractions :)
I do have a location guide if you need some help choosing the perfect spot.
WHAT SHOULD WE ALL WEAR?
Outfits can really elevate a shoot. As a guide simple clothes and neutral colours tend to work best and avoiding logos and stripes is preferable. Layering works really well for creating different looks and a change of outfit can be a good idea for very little ones. Textures like lace and soft knits add interest without competing for attention.
WHAT IF MY LITTLE ONE IS NOT COOPERATING?
This is completely normal. I have yet to shoot a family shoot where there was not at least one moment where the child was a little fussy. I have a lot of patience for little ones. Should your kiddo be extra fussy I am happy to extend the session until I am happy with the amount of images I got. With my style of shooting I take a more relaxed approach with few posed shots which helps as well. All I want from them is to be themselves and I'll capture that.
